I thought you could enable an option on most forums to log their IP addresses?
If there is an option and it isn't already enabled, why not enable it?

As for ip addresses, the phpbb board I use allows you to see the IP address of everyone currently on the board. I don't know about checking posters though, if they're not online. I don't think you can do that.

It does log the IPs, but he uses ntl like me, which uses a proxy, whether you like it or not. So I can't get his proper IP.
