Heres a 4 v 4 map I've sketched up. I lack the mad mapping skills to actually create it. If anyone wants to create it or thinks it's a good idea let me know, I'll draw up some real images.

Yeah, it looks cool. I'd be keen to give it a go. I've been having problems thinking of cool map ideas lately. But I might need a couple of better sketches to go off.

have two trenches on each side and have a big middle and call it no mans land ;)

A'ight, ill get a drawin.
Yes the two trenches in the middle of nowhere is coming. I designed this as a 4v4 map, the next map in this series would be an 8v8 with two front-line trenches and a shitload of communication trenches. And a lot of grenades.
I mean a lot.
Also; a larger map would need some kind of heavy-weaponry... like a stationary machinegun or something at each trench line.
Trench warfare is supposed to be hell, so I want to make it as hellish as possible.

I'd map it myself but I don't have the 1337 hammer skills like some of these guys. :(

yeah i'm pretty bogged down with exams and end-term papers... but this weekend should be alright for working.
so if you need any specific sketches of things done lemmy know.

Comments? And yeah, I know I haven't made much progress, I've been having heaps of problems with Hammer, so this only represents 30 minutes of real work, but hours of frustration.

They are just simple brushes... but I will displace all the terrain and add puddles/fog/trees/rocks etc, but what are your opinions on actual build areas displacement?

yeah the first two tunnels should be skinnier.
the one in the middle is the big one.

Sorry, I don't understand, do you mean the two trenches closest to the teams should be narrower? They all look the same on your drawing.

also, next screenie you post can you do it with someone standing in the trench? just a static model would work. just trying to get an idea of the scale

they are called brushes BECAUSE THAT IS THE NAME FOR THEM!
if you made a shape in hammer it is a brush. withing brushes you can have blocks (th emost common) and arcs, shperes, other wiered shapes etc.
and if its not a brush its a model

Until I can get it working in game again... the "connecting" sort of trenches (the little zigzags) are just wide enough for a player.

as it should be. im just thinking those two trenches by the spawn points rae too large. they should only be like 1.5-2 people wide. think of a real trench O_o

Damn a mapper is already on this. Well you'd better do a good job stinger ^_^
I'm working on a map called encasement. I occasionally host a server named "-=upside umop=- low-ping server" to beta test it, if anyone has played there before.

Actually I haven't done anything with this for ages. I may come back to it, I'm not sure. I've been way to busy with other maps for this at the moment. Feel free to do it, if you want to.

Well... it could be an entity... but most of those can't really be seen as objects in game.
