League Rewards

Just as a insentive it would be good to set up some small rewards for clans that win the league.

Dosnt have to be much just something nice for winning.

Any ideas, then discuss it here.

Keep in mind it cant involve any financial costs whatsoever, for the sake of the devs (Most likely they wouldnt have paid anyway)

How about a special lil sig like the beta tester one? Only it would have alot more gold in it :D (and maybe a special forum area they can use for anything they like lol, maybe even have a seeky peak area in there that the devs will release any new media into a week before they release the media to public?).

That's a good idea GTO, although I think the Devs tell us things pretty much as soon as they're confirmed. It would be nice to know where SF is heading though.

an avie that is a little trophy would be cool. it could be like a gold trophy that said like. sf league champs season 1 on it or somethin :)

A golden cacti next to your name would be a small yes cool way to show the winners. You keep it till the title is taken from you, shouldnt be too hard to add to phpbb either.

Sneek peek thing probably isnt going to happen, we really only want to give completed things out to the public.

I don't particularly like leagues with prizes... it's enough of a temptation to cheat to be the best when there is no reward as evidenced by the many NSers that get caugh cheating in CAL NS all the time. We really don't need a system that's going to prod people on more. If we get really really big then it will happen eventually no doubt, but I don't think we need to have something like that now.

This is more of a suggestion for the mod (2.0, probably). What if there were small clan tag images that appeared in the HUD / scoreboard? Players could specify them like spraytags in the autoexec.cfg; as long as they fall within the proper size constraints, they're transferred to all users connected to the server and used to show clan affiliation.

Also, what if clan stats / rankings could be incorporated into the on-screen display (clan best represented on the winning team had their clan stats displayed after each match)? Stats could be pulled in by the server (pulling xml-formatted data from an HTTP host specified by the game server's .cfg file). The game server just performs a lookup against a winning clan's ID (name, registration #, whatever) and relays the info retrieved to players at the end of the map. Dominant clans get to rub their opponent's noses in it -- or not, depending on the server admin's preference.

All the custom graphic ideas can be done by the individual clan anyway if they want. It isn't going to be that bigger of an insentive to cheat.

League champions get permanently recorded as the seasons winners and all the prestige and bragging rights that go with it. I really don't think more is necessary. CAL doesn't run prizes for any of it's low end divisions... Unless someone wants to donate a prize then there won't be one until league is big enough that it's logical to have paid entrance at the high level divisions and we have advertisement sponsors.

Yeah, it makes it more..official. Plus if each season when someone new wins, it looks roughly the same, it will be more recognisable and therfore more pride will come from wearing it.
