I just got the new system of a down cd the other day and I have to say, it rocks. Has anyone else gotten it or planning on getting it?

I had the utter pain of having to sit through a couple of the songs of their new album today, and I have to say, it is some of the worst music I have heard in a long time. It is just yelling; the guitars are so distorted, it is all just white noise. You guys need to hear some decent music, this stuff hardly classifies as music. Last time I checked, music has rhythem and melody. I doubt these guys even understand what a melody is...

That music does have rhythm and melody, the bass and drums keep the rhythm going in unison while the guitar plays chords or some sort of riff and the singing is the melody over it.

I downloaded the leak awhile ago but I still plan to buy the CD, because it's mega-awesome. Stinger, it probably depends what songs of theirs you've heard. Some of them are all over the place, so it's sort of an aquired taste. The majority of the songs on their new album though are pretty flowing and melodic. The guitar (not two, though there might be overdubbing) isn't all that distorted except on maybe the last two tracks.
I'm not sure what you listen to, but System of a Down is one of the most unique, and most talented modern rock groups around, with political undertones to go with it.

i really like the new cd, it's almost as good as toxicity.
. i don't call any music bad, everyone just has different tastes in what they like.

My favourite music is classical and...dunno what you would call it...modern classical I guess. Justin Lassen and stuff (so I know about melody and shite). But I also love System of a Down. No melody or tune? Toxicity had a pretty decent melody in the chorus afair ;)
I spose I just have insanely wide taste in music. System of a Down to Justin Lassen, Marily Manson to Marler through Keane.

I didn't think Toxicity was too bad when I heard it, but the tracks I heard yesterday were nothing like that...

What tracks did you hear? Check out Revenga and Radio/Video. BYOB (the single) is pretty catchy, but there's a few timechanges. Still flows though.
