Do you speak another language? In order to better support non English-speaking players, we're looking for talented linguists to translate SourceForts into all the languages spoken by our fanbase. While we can't guarentee you a position on the team, we are still looking for active testers/contributors.
We have a pretty wide fanbase internationally, and although members of the team speak several languages, we're looking for native speakers of the language to provide the translations. Go ahead and send an email to info@sourcefortsmod.com (https://mail.google.com/mail?view=cm&tf=0&to=info@sourcefortsmod.com) with the subject "Translation - <language>", filling in <language> with the chosen language of translation.
Edit: We've been totally inundated with German translations at the moment, so until we decide which we're going to use/if we're going to merge some of them, we aren't particularly looking for any more. Danke Schon!
Our current translations can be found in your SourceForts game folder under /resources/SourceForts_language.txt. To being translation, simply copy the file SourceForts_english.txt and edit it with your new language content.
While replacing the word for Soldier with the word for deli meat may be humorous, all translations will be checked before release. ;)
I'd also like to give a mention out to two new members of the development team, Black, who you're all familiar with, who'll be helping out with mapping duties and Xyal, an experienced programmer who's come to help us push towards 2.0.

How about creating a wiki article for each language / translation and let a group of people work on it together?

The fact you had to tell me that means my point still has a 50/50 chance of being valid.

And as far as I'm aware Steam doesn't support Mexican Spanish, nor does it support Brazilian Portugese and a lot of others languages and dialects.

I'm pretty sure you could code it into the game, isn't the Source engine quite moddable?
Sayyan
01-15-2008, 08:24 PM
The engine isn't at all moddable, only the game binaries. If you want to edit the engine (like GMod 10) you have to either pay VALVe a serious sum of money (around £100'000) or get given access by VALVe (like GMod 10).

Ah. I figured a beta has it loaded into the NVRAM chip the devs embed into your brain. BTW, Stieffers, mine still itches where the socket sticks out. You said the team would pop for some hydrocortisone cream to help with that.

The main problem was the trials with betamethasone velerate, it would corrode the contacts while helping the skin to heal over, nothing we could do so the itching stays.

I can translate to portuguese allright, but still, what is the problem then if steam doesnt support it? Also, Portugal Portuguese phails and wont be very different after the official portuguese changes they are making this year if I aint mistaken.

The language of your games is dependant on the language you've set in Steam, as Steam only allows players to use a limited number of languages, we can only use game translations from those languagse.
There will be more opportunities in the future such a translating for the Wiki and the website, this is mainly just a trial run to see how many people are interested in translating, and which languages are widely used in our fan base.

ok i've been learning sf words in sign language.
funnily enough i didn't know the words for grenade, gun etc.
Sauce

I think I know why there is no word for grenade in sign language (at least that we know of)
Just about the only reason you would want to say "grenade" in sign language is to say "My hands were blown off by a grenade" and it would just be cruel to try get someone whose hands had been blown off by a grenade to say that in sign language.
