Snopes (http://www.snopes.com/photos/military/throwpuppy.asp) isn't sure whether this is a fake and per their write-up the military officials don't have a flat denial. If the video producers are stateside -- it seems that they are -- I think it would be really easy for their CO to wring out an admission that this was a fake. There would certainly be more than a little pressure to get that done. I'm usually the first to smack on the fake label, but this seems potentially legit.
Sauce, if people were threatening to burn down your house, you admit it's a fake and report the calls / emails to the police. You don't apologize and invite a larger shitstorm from people who assumed it was a hoax in the first place. Apologizing also opens up a military legal case for "conduct unbecoming," in that you're pretty much admitting publicly that 1) you killed a dog for fun 2) you videotaped it and 3) you harmed the Marine Corps by releasing the video to the Internet.
Any way you slice it, the guy's a scumbag.

We've already seen a few school shootings, so it's a bit obvious what could happen when these things show up. Maybe slightly probably the first world nations of this world will act a bit more hastily when they get reports of human rights abuse. If they do they may stop something before it stems off into the mass slaughter of humans.

I'd share your optimism if there weren't new school shootings every six months or so. With respect to genocide since Nazi Germany (not sure if this was what you were referring to when you said "world nations"), you've got the USSR under Stalin, Cambodia, East Timor, Rwanda, Bosnia, Sudan, and (arguably) Iraq. It seems to me that people are just as likely to say, "This is bad, but not as bad as what the Nazis did," as they are to say, "This has to stop because we have seen the horror of genocide." Unfortunately the world's response to genocide depends on how politically and economically "useful" the dying people are, and not so much on the immorality of their murder.
There's been hand-ringing in this country over school shootings wince the '80s, yet nothing has fundamentally changed, and that's also a side-effect of the politics here.

In stead of trying to stop it before it happens, let's just make an example out of the first guy that does it. If someone shoots up a school, let's burn them alive. The next guys that think about shooting up a school will probably not want to be burned alive, so they will be less likely to do it.
That is one of the things I really like about many of the middle eastern countries. If you get caught stealing, they will hack off a limb. You better believe, theft is not much of a problem in those countries.
Oh, and Draken, it was only attempted genocide. If he had succeeded, there wouldn't be anyone left to complain about it. I mean, no one bitches about East Timor. A total annihilation of a democratic indigenous society of about 2 million people completely wiped out...and swept under the carpet of history. But none of them was my brother, so I guess I don't care.
