Jebus...has the guy never seen a compressed file before?

If you can get HL2DM to work (no comp problems) and put it in the right place (easy) then IT WILL WORK.

I got a .zip file, hate using .rars. Should be no real differance, though, right?

Don't confuse him with compressed files. Teach him what a file is. Maybe then he will understanding the true hardness that is moving folders around.

As a compression format, rar owns zip, way better compression, way more options. Its just, well, better.

RAR doesn't always have better compression than ZIP.

I like to use 7zip if i can, but rar files rock over zip files. A 2 meg zip of a 4 meg map can be brought down to 800kB. Now if only more people knew it existed.

I just mean that I only have WinZip, which does not accept .rar files. I have only ever seen .rars in use about three times before, and know that I will have to download and get working a new product just to get them to work. So: I always get the .zip if I can. With broadband, the differance between 800k and 2 Megs is just a few min.

Might be old fasioned, might be wrong, but I know how to work WZ and I don't like screwing around with new programs that I don't understand.

WinRAR has been around for years. It's just that WinZIP has the name ... go to www.rarlabs.com, its easy to use and has support for heaps of compressed archieves.
