Default Lack of (good) Servers?

I'm fairly new to this mod -- but I'm in love. I do have a few questions, tho'. Why are all the servers I see capped at 4 or 6 players? Is it because they're not dedicated servers? Are there any dedicated servers? I sure don't see any! What the dealio?

There are problems with reliability - servers keep crashing, and there's no Linux builds. People are reluctant to run SourceForts servers. With v2, this should change.

makes sense. any word on a timeframe for v2? does the team have any need for a coder slash beta tester to help it along?

UiC (mah clan) runs SF on the dedi some weekends, we play a lot of different games though, and with the fact that I (or other server admins) have to be there to bring it back means it's generally only up when we're playing in it.

Keep an eye out though, because it's always good fun on our server

BTW, is it worth editting the build and fight times for the server? At the moment it's 15 mins build time then 15 mins attacking (I think... whatever the default is). Is it worth increasing the build times? I saw in the fort showcase forums people saying their fort was made in an hour and stuff...

I've actually found that with two players, the time required to build a good fort is decreased by more than two times.

They have low caps because latency is generally very high with sf.

I run my server (-=upside umop-= low-ping server) just about any time Im playing sf and I usually cap it at 10 because I'm on an extremely fast connection (fiber optic) and I can handle it.
