heres what i've seen in the past month i've been browsing these wonderful forums:

when a post is made, one of the following occurs

1. the post is flamed (Salem style)

2. the post is ignored (for no apparent reason)

3. poster is ridiculed ("how dare you think XYZ")

4. the post is locked (for asking a simple question)

==and, in very rare circumstances===

5. the 'powers that be' agree wholeheartedly and the opposite of above occurs (they like it, and wont hear anything to the contrary)


notice the lack of the following
-constructive criticism
-open-mindedness
-appreciation
-kindness


listen guys, i love the mod... but y'all need to be a bit nicer about things... dont you think?

I havn't seen any pointless flaming of a thread or person for a long while. I also havn't seen threads totally ignored, but this isn't a very active forum. People aren't usually ridiculed, except when they themselves are being jerks.

Posts are usually locked when it's something that's been brought up many times before. I think we're all a bit sick of hearing how a rotational gravity gun would be great for the mod, or how 'insert obscure weapon' would be really awesome and cool.

The fact is, there's alot of really bad ideas out there. If the idea sucks, people should be told why it sucks in a constructive way, and that's what alot of us do.

We've generally been nice, I don't know what you're talking about.

If it was the case you described, there would have been no answer.

I have to disagree wholeheartedly with this. Very little flaming goes on in this forum (I can point you at examples of what flaming actually is). If you are finding a lack of constructive criticism for ideas, I'll tell you that's because we're sick of rebutting the same ideas over and over again. The first time, there's an explanation. The fifth time, it's just 'no'.

As for ignoring posts, well, it's nobody's *job* to post in this forum. If nobody can think of anything useful to add to a topic, nobody is going to reply to it - we don't have any spammers here at the moment.

Find me a quote that says "how dare you think XYZ".

Locking topics? I haven't locked any for a while, but usually it's because it's the Nth topic about such and such an idea.

Yes, SOME are unanswered (30 out of more than 7,000, and many of the unanswered ones are Announcements), as for the rest...

If you are refering to ideas that are posted by people who obviously did not read the stickies, then they frankly deserve to be flammed. But NOTHING on here is to the level I've seen on other forums.

I think people who dont read stickies or use the search feature deserve to be flamed. I've been lurking around since Monday and havent seen anything thats outrageous yet.
