Triple Threat?
I know its a freakish idea, and will be hell to implant. but it might be good for a future version.
Allowing for team 3, yellow, zombies.
Sounds wierd for a seconds, "What? all amps are useless? how will it play out?"
But given the right implantation it can be great.
Having the game "look" for spawn points, and only make whatever teams that has such to exist, making it rebel VS zombie, combine VS zombie, rebel VS combine or rebel VS zombie VS combine.
This allows to have both normal gameplay that looks cooler, (zombie team!) and give option for 3 sided maps. where capturing ANY flag counts, making some odd scenarios such as two teams rushing off a flag stolen by the third, adding to the combat madness.
It also prevents dumb standstills where no team gains ANY advantage over the other and people keep getting shot with no advancement what-so-ever. a three-sided standstill is nigh-impossible.
On the same note I would like to suggest "Neutral" flags, that anyone can capture and "score only" points, with no actual flag. (making two teams, or even three rushing for the same flag!)

Wouldn't work for v2, although i'd like to see a gamemode where one team makes defenses against npcs... It's something me and my friends did on GMod before all this 'lua' stuff...

The only thing I like about this kind of idea, is building barricades. Not actually being able to kill Zombies. Just running away, with tonnes of routes in a survival type of mode. More deaths mean bigger zombie teams coming after you. Holding down rooms with stuff. It'd add to the whole "oh shit oh shit oh shit.", thing especially if the atmosphere was done right. Rather than "If some one comes in I'll just blast them with my 1,999 shotgun ammo, and 9999 Deagle bullets."
Of course I'm talking more about CS:S here, but I don't think it'd work in 2.0.0.

3 teams would be interesting, 2 escaping while the final one has to stop them. However with a twist. The 2 teams escaping are fighting each other for escape as well.

Like the zombie thing, but zombies + SourceForts has always been a bad combination.

Actually, it'd be quite cool to have the 'zombie' team full of cappers... Basically make them 'new dawn of the dead' style, or fast zombies.
Give them heavy melee attacks, very fast respawns, moving spawn areas and maybe a few NPC_fastzombies to swell their ranks...
The zombie team have two goals; kill all the other team (they have, say, 3 lives before they become zombies) and/or get to the main control point and capture it by force.
Basically bumrush but without an instant win if you get in, crossed with a typical zombie game, with stuff in the way.
Depending on the original class of the player, they become equivalent zombies. Their health and speed changes to match their original class (albiet less health and speed than normal, with the exception of cappers who get more speed).
They only have melee weapons, but those who had gravguns now have 'claw' (which is basically unweld), rocketeers have 'pounce' (to replace rocketjump), longer-range classes can spit as a secondary (which would do very little damage)... Although the first zombie would always be made into a capper with high jumps.
Instead of getting killed by the zombies, you can only go down to 1 health. When you reach 1 health, you start to change into a zombie (shown visually, clearly) and have about 15 seconds before you change teams. Whilst in this state you can still attack the zombies, but do negative effects to all teammates stood around you. The teammates can choose to keep you to help fight, or kill you to save themselves.
The Zombies would have to get past the walls in order to actually win, so the game's far fairer than a normal zombie game.
And what's best, I can think of a great way to make this match the style I'm currently working on =DD
hell, it even makes MORE sense in the style I have XD
