Well, I think the spawners on that map spawn the pieces straight up like that, all he had to do was freeze them. Notice in the spiral map, every single wall segment is oriented exactly the same, and some pieces are sticking through others. He might have just had someone freeze them as soon as they spawned, and that's why they're sticking through.
