Default sf_2fort

Heyas!

Last night I had a dream .. or maybe not, but as I awoke I got an idea for a SF map - the classic TFC map "2fort". Who doesn't know it? Which CTF based game could miss this map?

I started drawing concepts on paper, but after 10-12 wasted sheets of paper I found out, that I'm not born as a drawer. Also the concepts I tried in Corel Draw sucked. So I started to create the concept in Hammer, which seems to work easier (3d rulez).

I spectated around in the original 2fort map and looked which parts of the map would fit in SF. I have decided for .. (don't look at the textures, for the concepts I just took unselected textures, ..)

EDIT: Old Pics removed

I'm currently not sure how to connect the parts and where to place spawn rooms (the player spawn rooms should also get similar to the original one), thats the big "?" in the concept, but I have some ideas for and look how to include them best.

So what do you think about this idea? Is it worth to start working?

I was actually playing TFC last night, and thinking how well some of the maps would work in SourceForts. I'll keep tabs on this, see how it progresses.

ok, thanks for reply, looks like I will start this project the next days. (currently I'm about to finish sf_longrun).

Any suggestions are welcome (and would be easier to implent before I'm starting to think about final size and design )

I also thought about other tfc maps for sf, like rock2 with the gas chamber idea, I would love it! Or well has some cool parts. But looks to complicated for me at the moment, till I'm not a top mapper (yet? ).

It will be interesting to see what people build to suit the structure already there. We've already seen what peopel do with a blank slate, so now it's time to make them adapt

Keep up the good work!

p.s. make sure the long plates can fit down those spiral stair cases.

I'm currently planning to block the complete tunnel through the build time, maybe also a phys blocker during fight time, because throwing some blocks in would completly block it. The tunnels are alternate ways to get in and out the bases, which takes some times to walk through. Getting blocked at the end would really suck. :p But maybe I will test it unblocked in the first run and look how people use the tunnels.

Wow, nice work. Maybe the tunnels could have nofreeze along their centres and above waist height... so you can put stuff in them, but not entirely block them. I gather people will be able to tell where the no freeze zones in v2.0
