i'm interesting in updating\upgrading sf_abandon.

some of my friends and others i've run into online say its too cramped and too dark and blah blah blah so i though i'd upgrade it for a more playable experience.

i realize that using vmex as an educational tool is not illegal or immoral but i dont want to run into a flaming pit because people think i de-compiled someones orginal work, tweaked it, and called it my own.

so what i'm asking is for permission to edit\change sf_abandon for sourceforts from its original author. if the author would contact me at srsjojo@gmail.com i would be open to discussion on this.

also, to the community, if you have suggestions on how i should change it, please let me know as well.

Stinger is the author, and from what I've seen, he's already revising sf_abandon.

This mod hasn't been around THAT long... It's kind of presumptous to assume that the author of the map is done with his work and doesn't want to further play with it.

Only stinger can give you a yes know of course, and it's better to ask then to just steal the work of course. But don't be dissapointed with a "no".

Eh, I dunno. I'd be more like "...Well, I'm not done with it, but it's really goddamn cool that people find it interesting to mess with..." But that's just me.

How long have you been mapping?

A good map is like a long novel, or an emaculate painting. There is so much personal investment in it that for the mapper to give up his rights to full credit is often a very painful thing to do. That is why issues like this really have to be left up to each individual mapper. It's a little known fact, but map authors acctually hold legal right of ownership over thier map in terms of source and content.

It is acctually illegal to decompile an authors map against thier concent.

hey sorry to stir up such a storm... :? didnt mean any disrespect to the author and i know what you mean swift about it being like a little pet you've been raising...or something. i dont intend to do anything w\o stinger's approval. or, if i hear he is already tweaking it... then i shall drop it. stinger probably knows 100x more than me in this realm... for i barely consider myself an intermediate mapper... just thought i'd try to provide to the community which has provided me so many hours of enjoyment

Aww, why did you have to make that last post. I was just mentally working out a really nasty post. But now...

Anyway, go make your own map. Don't try and "improve" other people's. I am capable of doing my own maps thank you very much.
