Default My dedicated server makes steam expire.

Got a dedicated server up according to the helpfull guide. Unblocked the ports 27015 and 27011 in windows firewall and on my linksys router. Its also giving me the IP of my server as 192.168.1.101:27015, which is wrong. Right now I can see the server only when I add it to favorites, my first problem.

Secondly when I try to connect to that server it spits out this error message in the dedicated server logs.

Quote:
L 04/12/2005 - 20:39:54: "Strossos<9><STEAM_ID_PENDING><>" connected, address "192.168.1.1:27006"
Client Strossos connected (192.168.1.1:27006).
Compressing fragments (19651 -> 9814 bytes)
L 04/12/2005 - 20:39:54: "Strossos<9><STEAM_ID_PENDING><>" disconnected (reason "Invalid STEAM UserID Ticket
")
Dropped Strossos from server
Reason: Invalid STEAM UserID Ticket

On the connecting screen when I try to connect it prompts for my steam password saying my session has expired. Enter it in and it goes back to start connecting again and thus asks the same question.

Hopefully someone can give me some pointers, now its back to trying to fix it myself.

This is all generic Steam stuff. I've never had any problems with the Linux DS, I'd suggest trying the steampowered.com forums.

Sorry .

Well I wasn't to sure if it was or not.

Anyways I fixed the problem of connecting by deleting clientregistry.blob.

still doesn't show up on the server list. :/

Well it appears deleting clientregistry.blob fixed all my problems.

To bad I can't play on my own dedicated server though. Heh.

Default playing on own DS

There may be 2 issues here in not being able to join your own DS.

1. Set up your DS without a steam account. Steam used to require this but no longer does.

2. Assuming that you are running your DS behind your personal router, try using your internal IP address and port to access your server rather than connecting to it through the server list.

looks to me like your server cant connect to the steam auth servers.

try to force the server's ip to your internet ip

yes you can. use valve's steamless dedserver tool. look on the righthand side of the window, it is over there. there is one for windows and one for linux. http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=getsteamnow
