Default question about server plugins

I am going to try and put up a server for almost 24 hours a day now. Obviously a clan member or I can’t be there the whole time so I need to find out what people like more. Should I just let it run without a plugin with just a map cycle and a time limit or should I use Mani or something?

Other question is how long is a good time limit normally, how I have been doing it is just change the map manually when everyone is sick of it but I cant do that for this. Is something like 60 or 80 min ok or should it be even longer then that?

First, its not going to be up 24 hours a day. It crashes like once every two or three maps, and serverdoc doesn't realize it crashed. So its going to need to be manually restarted, a lot.

A timelimit of inital build + fight + long build + fight+ short build + fight + 1 min is probably good

However, mapcycle is broken in SF, and just changes to the same map over and over again. To fix this, get the plugin thats stickied in this forum, and install it.

A good way to make your server more stable is also in that sticky.

As far as admin stuff goes, I'm not sure. I have written my own plugin that does it all for the FSD server, but its not exactly ready for release.. I'm not sure what luck you are going to have finding a admin plugin for a game other then CSS.

@devicenull

I hear ya on the server crashing part now.
Although 1 week ago I would of disagreed. I had our server online for about 72 hours before we had to kill it (someone decided to spam blocks non-stop in one map and ate up all the RAM on the machine in doing so) took 5 minutes to kill the damn thing it was running that slow.

Off of that, ever since then get a crash every few hours it seems at this stage...

Also, the map cycle works fine for me, no extra plugins - nothing like that. I just turn it on, play a map... time runs out - new map (different map) starts up. :-D
So yeah, all is good from my end.

Hmmm - your using win yes? (well no linux Binaries yet *duh*)

Did you set it in 'malcycle.txt' or did you actually boot the server from the Steam Installer and start the server, change to a map then set the 'available maps' for the map cycle?!

That's what I did...
