it might be becasue im trying to do it to a nondedicated server but i cannot get the rcon stuff to work. it gives me a connection error so i first thought it was the firewall. i enabled the correct port but it did not work so i disabled it agian. i tried changing the port it uses but it still gives me the error. it sounds like my firewall does not like the rcon stuff. im skeptical about trying without the firewall, i dont fell like risking my computers safety. is there something i am missing. i set the password using rcon_password. than i try to do rcon (any command) but it gives me a conection error. the rcon_adress is normaly set to 127.0.0.1:27015 which is my local conection and than port 27015. i tried changing the port # but that did not work. i also tried settting it to my ip adress with different port #'s but it still did not work. can i fix it by changing my firewall, changing my methods, or is it becuase im doing a remote conect thing localy, or should i just give up and blame steam. i realy just dont what wrong.

You're running a Listen Server (non-dedicated), yes? If so, then there is no need for a remote console (rcon). Why? Because you are the console itself. When you bring up your console (~) in game, that is the server console. You don't need to worry with rcon because the console isn't remote. Just type the commands into the console and the server will do what you say. The only reason you would need to worry with rcon would be if you want your friends to be able to execute commands.

thats why, i want my clanmates to be able to contol it when im gone. i have no problems controling it now. also can i restrict rcon so it can only do some comands like just kickid, changelevel, and the mp_ commands

Ok, so if you want your friends to have rcon on your listenserver, then you have to create a file for it. Try making a listeserver.cfg file and put the line:

rcon (password here)

inside of it. Toss it into your /cfg file in your SourceForts folder and see how it goes. You might consider running Mani's Admin plugin instead, though, as they don't have to log in with an rcon password then.

oh, i can do mani's plugin with a nondedicated. eather way thank you for your help.

edit: nope still does not work. it give me a conection to (ip adreess) error like normal. im pritty sure that it is my firewall now. i dont really care because i will just set a timelimit and a map rotation que for when i am gone. to bad no one will be able to kick lamers though. it least i know my firewall does something :P
