Default Building Time Wall Tutorial

After asking around I finally got it. And to help prevent the topic from coming up again heres a brief tut.

1. At the center of you map make a wall.
2. Tie it to the entity "func_wall_toggle"
3. Name the wall "wall".
4. Then put in "logic_gametimer". Then go to its Outputs.
5. In the outputs put under "My Output Named" "OnBuild".
6. In the outputs put under "Targets Entity Named" "wall".
7. In the outputs put under "Via This Input" "Toggle".
8. Apply
9. Do steps 5 through 7 again exept this time under "My Output Named" put "OnFight".
10. Apply
11. Now go back to the wall and under its flags check "starts invisible".
12. Play and Enjoy!

Rate this tut please and if I said something wrong correct me.

or:

1. create the wall
2. right click and press tie to entety
3. choose func_door
4. change settings so it goes down (in that radar like round black thingy) and add a name to it (ex. bigwall)
5. uncheck the flag "opens on toutch"
6. set the settings "delay before reset" to -1
7. set lip to -10
8. go to the game timer thing and press propeties
9. go to outputs
10. press add -> OnFight -> bigwall -> open
11: press add -> OnBuild -> bigwall -> close
12: apply and go for it!

this isnt tested but should work.. too lazy to open SDK right now -_-'

Have fun !

func_wall_toggle is the better of the two options.

Or use a func_brush with enable/disable inputs. Anyway, func_door is the worse cause it can be blocked by players, blocks and slams.

Actually, I believe there is a flag to force a func_door to close.

You should have provided mappers with an updated FGD.
Actual help running proper servers would've been nice since we fronted the money.

Yeah but it doesnt really work. Even if the door has "Force Closed" set On, players, blocks and slams will still block it :shock:

umm freelancer? this doesnt work
10. press add -> OnFight -> bigwall -> open
11: press add -> OnBuild -> bigwall -> close
there is no option for "open" or "close"
also which box do you put "onbuild" and "onfight"the option is in both "via this output" and "my ouptput named"
