Default flag glowing box thing

How do you make that glowing box effect around the flags (like in fieldtrip)?

make a brush with a texture (I prefer the orange and black stripes)

tie it to func_detail

set FXmode to Textured

set FXamount to 70 or so

if you want to be able to see the texture when your inside, you'll have to make a cube, then hollow it thin and tie all 6 sides to func_detail

You should have provided mappers with an updated FGD.
Actual help running proper servers would've been nice since we fronted the money.

Is this the same way they make that "light streaming through the window" effect seen in the trainstation or cs_estate? If so, what texture do you use?

I think they used RenderFX: Additivve (or something)

however... I know in CS:S they have a use a light_spot with a tight angle shining through ...

a brush tied to func_dustmotes

combined with some env_sprite
Render FX: Constant Glow
Render Mode: Additive
FX Amount: very low
FX Color: dusty/yellow
Disable Recieving Shadows: Yes
Sprite Name: materials/Sprites/glow.vmt
Scale: 2
Size: 2

add the obligitory env_cubemap and smile

de_dust does this wonderfully in the domed room
