Make HL2 Mod or use Ogre
I figured this was a decent place to post. For the past year I have been writing my own 3d game engine in Direct3d written in c++. I have made major strides, but I don't have the time I have now that I used to have. I still would like to work on 3d game projects, just not writing it from scratch. So, I've decided that I'm either going to use an open source game engine such as Ogre 3d or make an HL2 mod. I've read the SDK for both and it seems like that are both ablout equal in skill level involved,so its just a matter of results. What would you suggest is the better approach? Were you happy with the Source engines ability to be modded?
I know you are much more limited as to what you can do in Source, like, I cant go up and edit their main classes like I can do in Ogre. Did any problems like that hinder your mod at all?
